Mamallapuram, Chennai gets ready for 44th International Chess Olympiad in 2022

Tamil Nadu gears up to host the 44th International Chess Olympiad in 2022, kids dressed as chess pieces.

The event will be held in Mamallapuram by the state from July 28 to August 10.

A.R. Rahman, a composer with an Academy Award, created the music for the spectacle.

In addition, the state administration declared holidays for the first day of classes at universities and for non-essential government agencies in four districts.

To resemble a chessboard, Napier Bridge has been painted in black and white.

Children participated in a competition that was held in Chennai in advance of the 44th Chess Olympiad in 2022.

Thambi is the official mascot of the 44th Chess Olympiad, which will begin in Chennai on July 28.

A record-breaking 189 teams, the highest ever for a Chess Olympiad registered. The Women’s section attracted 162 teams.
