Prithviraj wishes ‘brother’ Prabhas ahead of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ release

Mumbai, June 26 (IANS) Ahead of the June 27 release of the much-anticipated multi-starrer sci-fi film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, pan-India star Prithviraj Sukumaran on Wednesday wished the movie a great success.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Prithviraj shared an image of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and wrote: “All the best brother! @actorprabhas My absolute best to this new benchmark in Indian Cinema!”

The film stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Brahmanandam, Shobhana, Saswata Chatterjee, Pasupathy, and Malvika Nair in key roles.

While Big B plays Ashwatthama in the movie, Prabhas will be seen as Bhairava, Kamal as Supreme Yaskin, Deepika as SUM-80, a pregnant lab subject, and Disha as Roxie.

Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is eagerly awaited for its high production value, visual effects, and compelling narrative.

On the work front, Prithviraj is gearing up for his upcoming directorial venture ‘L2: Empuraan’, following the success of his critically acclaimed movie ‘Aadujeevitham’.

While Prabhas has ‘Kannappa’, ‘The Raja Saab’, and ‘Salaar Part 2’ in the pipeline, Big B, who last featured in ‘Ganapath’, next has ‘Vettaiyan’ and ‘The Umesh Chronicles’ in his kitty.

Deepika, who is expecting her first child with Ranveer Singh, last featured in the aerial action film ‘Fighter’ alongside Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor.

She next has ‘Singham Again’ in her kitty.

After five months, Bhojpuri film 'Jaya' finally gets censor board certificate

Patna, June 29 (IANS) After five months of consideration, the censor board has finally approved the Bhojpuri film ‘Jaya’, according to the film’s producer.

The film had been under review by the censor board for the last five months.

Now that it has been approved, the filmmakers will soon announce its release date.

“Our movie ‘Jaya’ was pending with the censor board for the last five months. Now, the board has approved the film and given it a U/A certificate,” said Ratnakar Kumar, the producer of the film.

Kumar did not share details about the story but assured that the film is interesting and will appeal to the Bhojpuri audience.

The lead roles are played by Mahi Srivastava and Hindi film actor Daya Shankar Pandey, who portrays Mahi’s father.

The film’s trailer has been released and is receiving a positive response.

In addition to the lead actors, Sukesh Anand, Manu Krishna, Mahesh Acharya, Dharmendra Singh, Rao Ranvijay, and others have important roles in the film.

Jaya is directed by Dheeru Yadav, and written by Sharmendra Singh, with music composed by Dheeru Yadav and Shahil Singh.

Deepika Padukone’s LiveLoveLaugh announces 'Lecture Series Unplugged' launch

Mumbai, June 29 (IANS) Actress Deepika Padukone’s LiveLoveLaugh (LLL) foundation has announced a new platform for mental health conversations with the launch of ‘Lecture Series Unplugged’.

This quarterly event aims to build awareness and sustain open discussions about mental health.

Deepika, Founder of LiveLoveLaugh, said: “Over the last decade, LLL has managed to successfully create a safe space for crucial mental health conversations. With ‘Lecture Series Unplugged’, LLL aims to reach a broader audience by offering relatable stories that can further strengthen our impact on individuals, communities, and society at large.”

The series will spotlight prominent figures sharing their lived experiences and insights on success, failures, triumphs, and learnings.

“By featuring personal stories, we’d like to foster a sense of connection and hope and an understanding that mental health challenges are a common part of the human experience,” said Shyam Bhat, psychiatrist and chairperson of LiveLoveLaugh.

‘Lecture Series Unplugged’ is co-hosted by Deepika’s sister Anisha Padukone, CEO of LiveLoveLaugh, and Shyam Bhat, who provides expert insights.

In the maiden episode, actor, influencer, and content creator Danish Sait shares his mental health strategies and experiences in an engaging discussion.

‘Lecture Series Unplugged’ episodes will be available on the foundation’s website and social media handles.

Second part of 'Chamak' to start streaming on August 16

Mumbai, June 29 (IANS) The streaming series ‘Chamak’, starring Paramvir Singh Cheema in the lead, is set to return with its second part.

This time, the show will feature an intense showdown as the father-son duo, Pratap Deol and Guru Deol, return to the screen in their relentless battle to safeguard Teeja Sur.

Paramvir’s character, Kaala, is now fully aware of the truth behind his father’s demise and embarks on a quest for vengeance, armed with newfound strength. Determined to reclaim his late father’s legacy, he faces escalating tensions and an intensified clash that raises the stakes higher than ever before.

The series also stars Manoj Pahwa, with a special appearance by Gippy Grewal, alongside Mohit Malik, Isha Talwar, Mukesh Chhabra, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder (Vicky) Pal, and Akasa Singh.

‘Chamak’ follows the story of a young rapper, Kaala, who leaves Canada for Punjab and discovers that his late father was the legendary singer Tara Singh, who was murdered on stage. He navigates through the complex landscape of politics, honour killings, and corporate rivalry.

Wanted to explore comedy genre, says Vicky Kaushal about 'Bad Newz'

Mumbai, June 29 (IANS) Vicky Kaushal has said the reason he agreed to do ‘Bad Newz’ is because he wanted to explore the comedy genre, something he hasn’t done before.

Famous for portraying larger-than-life characters, Vicky departs from his norm in ‘Bad Newz’.

The actor shared his experiences shooting for a comedy film, expressing a profound sense of familiarity and comfort despite venturing into uncharted territory.

Vicky said: “For me, shooting for this film was like being at home because Anand Tiwari and Karan Johar, the people with whom I was collaborating, had this feel-good thing going with them, plus the script was very good. The concept of the film, I found it to be new, and the kind of humour it has, though I haven’t explored the comedy genre much as an actor.”

Talking about Anand Tiwari, the film’s director, Vicky said: “Apart from being a phenomenal actor, he is a brilliant director, especially when it comes to comedy. So, I was also feeling good surrendering to him.”

Continuing on the theme, the actor said: “For me, it was also something new, and the kind of energy you need to showcase in scenes, I got it from the set. Directed by Anand Tiwari, ‘Bad Newz’ is being presented by Amazon Prime and Dharma Productions in association with Leo Media Collective.

‘Bad Newz’ is slated to be released in theatres on July 19.

Anupam Kher takes auto-rickshaw ride to enjoy ‘baarish’ in Mumbai

Mumbai, June 29 (IANS) Veteran Bollywood star Anupam Kher opted to ditch the comfort of his luxurious car and took an auto-rickshaw ride to enjoy the monsoon in Mumbai.

On Saturday, Anupam shared a video on Instagram stories of him sitting in an autorickshaw.

The actor starts by showing the rainy surroundings before switching to selfie mode.

Anupam, dressed in casual wear, then starts singing: “Baarish, baarish.”

On the work front, Anupam is all set to return to directing films after two decades with his upcoming project, ‘Tanvi the Great’. His last directorial was ‘Om Jai Jagdish’, released in 2002.

On his 69th birthday in March, the award-winning star announced his return to the director’s chair with ‘Tanvi the Great’. Oscar-winning music director M. M. Keeravani, who is known for his work on the acclaimed film ‘RRR’, has come on board for the film.

On his birthday, Anupam described the film as a “musical story of passion, courage, and innocence.”

After announcing the film, Anupam revealed that several renowned names are attached to the project.

Japanese DOP Keiko Nakahara and lyricist Kausar Munir, known for her work in films like ‘Ishaqzaade’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, and the streaming series ‘Rocket Boys’, have come on board.

National Award-winning choreographer Kruti Mahesh and ‘Jawan’ action director Sunil Rodrigues are also part of Anupam Kher’s ‘Tanvi the Great’ crew. Details about the cast are still under wraps. ‘Tanvi the Great’ is produced by Anupam Kher Studio.
