Hugh Jackman opens up on being treated nicely after underwhelming ‘Wolverine’ audition

Los Angeles, July 4 (IANS) Hollywood star Hugh Jackman has reminisced about how kindly Marvel head Kevin Feige treated him after his “underwhelming” audition for the superhero ‘Wolverine’.

Jackman told Entertainment Weekly that he was utterly convinced he had blown his audition for the role in 2000’s ‘X-Men’ film.

The Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige back then was a producer’s assistant. He invited Jackman to dinner with him and the screenwriter, and drove Jackman to the airport after.

“I said, ‘Kevin, we all know I’m not getting the part. You don’t have to do dinner.’ But no, he sat in there and had a steak dinner with me and then drove me to the airport. I’ll never forget it. That was the nicest thing. I thought, I’ll never see him again.”

Jackman ended up as ‘Wolverine’, playing the character nine different times ahead of the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’.

The Hollywood star gained the spotlight as ‘Wolverine’ in the ‘X-Men film’ series, which got him a Guinness World Record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel character” until 2022.

Eminem says he created his alter ego Slim Shady as his music was ‘going nowhere’

Los Angeles, July 31 (IANS) Rapper Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, said that he invented his Slim Shady alter ego as his music was “going nowhere.”

The 51-year-old rapper rose to global fame with his 2000 hit ‘The Real Slim Shady’, and in a video titled ‘Slim Shady vs Marshall Mathers: The Face-Off’ for a cover for Complex magazine, the musician reflected how his performing persona came about before saying it pushed him into addiction.

He told a younger AI generated version of himself in the clip: “I invented you because my life was …. My music was going nowhere and I was broke.”

He attacked his alter ego by declaring: “You didn’t fix anything. You actually made that worse. You’re the reason I had to self-medicate. Because of you I almost lost my career, my family, my life.”

“Life’s been great since you’ve been gone,” reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Eminem recently released his latest studio album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’ and hours before it came out the rapper told fans on X, formerly called Twitter: “Public service announcement: the ‘Death of Slim Shady’ is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”

Kinshuk Mahajan completely cut out sugar from diet for his role in ‘Megha Barsenge’

Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) Actor Kinshuk Mahajan, who is all set to play an NRI in the upcoming show ‘Megha Barsenge’ has undergone an extraordinary physical makeover for his character.

Kinshuk, who steps into the shoes of Manoj, an NRI husband shared: “I’m grateful for the fantastic opportunity to challenge myself and grow with ‘Megha Barsenge’. This journey of shedding 10 kilos isn’t just about looking the part, it’s about feeling authentic in Manoj’s skin. Every day, I’m pushing myself to new limits in the gym, sweating it out on the treadmill and challenging myself with weight training.”

To bring out the complexities of Manoj, Kinshuk has kicked off a transformative quest that goes beyond memorising dialogues and wardrobe choices. He has embraced a rigorous workout regimen aimed at shedding 10 kgs in a short span.

“But the real test of willpower comes outside the gym. I’ve completely cut out sugar from my diet, which isn’t easy for someone with a sweet tooth like mine. This transformation is teaching me so much about discipline and dedication. It’s not just about the physical changes, but also the mental strength it’s building,” he said.

The ‘Afsar Bitiya’ fame actor further commented: “I’m learning to see food as fuel for my body and performance, rather than just satisfaction for my taste buds. The challenges are real – from dealing with cravings to pushing through tough workouts when my body wants to give up.”

“But the excitement of seeing the gradual changes in my physique and feeling more aligned with Manoj’s character keeps me going. I’m sure my commitment to the character will translate on screen,” he added.

The marital drama promises to spark meaningful change by shedding light on bride abandonment through the journey of a newlywed bride Megha left behind in humiliation and financial ruin by her NRI husband.

‘Megha Barsenge’ will premiere on August 6 on Colors.
