Don’t get provoked, think twice and vote for country, your development: Priyanka’s appeal to K'taka voters

Chitradurga (Karnataka) April 23 (IANS) Senior Congress leader, Priyanka Gandhi, on Tuesday appealed to voters of Karnataka not to get provoked by hate speeches.

She also stressed that the voters must think twice before voting.

Addressing a huge gathering in Chitradurga located in the central part of Karnataka, Priyanka Gandhi gave a call to the electorate to vote for the country and for their development too.

“What is happening in the country is wrong. The poor, middle class, labourers are being bulldozed to benefit the few. National wealth is being given away to a few people,” Priyanka Gandhi underlined.

She charged that the Centre did not give drought relief to Karnataka. “The demand for AIIMS at Raichur city in north Karnataka has been made for years, but no discussion has been done on it till date.

“From the Kalasa-Banduri scheme, people will get water. The central government is denying permissions. For the Upper Bhadra Project which provides water to Tumakuru, Chikkamagaluru and Davanagere districts, the funds are not being released,” Priyanka Gandhi slammed.

She alleged that the central government had caused a Rs 62,000 crore loss in terms of funds to Karnataka.

“The Prime Minister claims that he works day and night. However, why this biased mindset? The state of Himachal Pradesh which was in crisis also did not get anything. It shows there is no concern for the nation,” Priyanka Gandhi attacked.

She also announced that if the Congress was voted to power, the Kadu Golla community would get ST status.

“Minimum Support Price (MSP) will become law. There would be no GST on agricultural products. There would be insurance cover for crops where compensation would be given in 30 days in case of crop loss, if the Congress is voted to power,” Priyanka Gandhi assured.

She added that during the election there is no talk about inflation, health and only provocative speeches are made and the BJP ensures the collapse of governments.

“The media says it’s a master stroke and does not raise the question of erosion of democratic values,” Priyanka Gandhi pointed out.

“I am here to talk about the country which you have built with your hard work. There is the harsh truth of inflation, unemployment and on the other hand there is talk about the country achieving great heights. The struggle in the lives of people has been increasing. Petrol, diesel, gold, silver and LPG cylinder costs have gone up. There is no MSP for crops but there is GST everywhere. The farmer is sinking under load of loans, there is no talk of loan waiver. But, few are benefitted,” Priyanka Gandhi stated.

She added, “The bank account of the Congress party has been seized and two CMs have been sent to jail. Cases have been lodged against Opposition leaders to weaken them. There are talks about changing the Constitution if the BJP is given 400 seats.”

“This has to be observed carefully. The Constitution empowers you. It provides safety and security, and voting power. If someone is talking about changing the Constitution, they are talking about changing your lives,” she noted.

Priyanka Gandhi said, “Hindu religion, values of politics give the message of service and path of truth. Lord Ram also gives the same message. Mahatma Gandhi and all other PMs, cutting across party lines, followed those principles. It is not to be seen anywhere now.”

Home Ministry displays order withdrawing ban on govt employees joining RSS activities

New Delhi, July 31 (IANS) The Ministry of Home Affairs, on Wednesday, displayed the official order on the withdrawal of ban on participation of government employees in activities of RSS, on its website’s home page for public knowledge.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order earlier in July to withdraw ban on the participation of government employees in the activities of RSS. This ban had been in place since 1966.

BJP’s IT head Amit Malviya said in a post on X: “The unconstitutional order issued 58 years ago, in 1966, imposing a ban on Govt employees taking part in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has been withdrawn by the Modi Govt.”

“The original order shouldn’t have been passed in the first place,” he added.

On the other hand, Congress’ Jairam Ramesh also shared in an X post: “Sardar Patel had banned the RSS in February 1948 following Gandhi ji’s assassination. Subsequently, the ban was withdrawn on assurances of good behaviour. Even after this the RSS never flew the Tiranga in Nagpur.”

On November 30, 1966, an order by the government banned the association of government servants with the activities of the RSS and the Jamaat-e-Islami.

However, various state governments, including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, removed the restrictions on government employees being linked to the RSS.

Amarnath Yatra 2024 breaks records with 4.71 lakh devotees in 32 days

Amarnath Yatra 2024 breaks records with 4.71 lakh devotees in 32 days

Jammu, July 31 (IANS) Over 4.71 lakh devotees had ‘darshan’ during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra so far breaking last year’s entire Yatra record of 4.45 lakh pilgrims as another batch of 1,654 pilgrims left Jammu for the Valley on Wednesday, said officials.

“This number is more than last year’s total pilgrim number of 4.45 lakh who went to Amarnath cave shrine during the entire Yatra period. Yesterday, 5,000 devotees performed the Yatra while a new batch of 1,654 left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the Valley in two escorted convoys. Both convoys left for the Valley at 3.20 a.m.,” the officials said.

“First escorted convoy of 17 vehicles carrying 456 pilgrims left for the North Kashmir Baltal base camp. The second escorted convoy of 34 vehicles carrying 1,198 Yatris left for the South Kashmir Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp”, officials said.

Arrangements of security, community kitchens (Langars), transit and base camps and the ubiquitous presence of security forces all along the highway from Jammu to Kashmir have ensured a safe, smooth and hassle-free Yatra this year.

The most important helping hand to the Yatris is provided by the locals. These locals employ ponies and work as porters for the pilgrims often carrying the weak and infirm devotees on their back up and down the treacherous mountain route on both sides of approach.

The cave shrine houses an ice stalagmite structure that wanes and waxes with the phases of the moon. Devotees believe that this ice stalagmite structure symbolises the mythical powers of Lord Shiva.

The cave is situated at an altitude of 3,888 metres above sea level in the Kashmir Himalayas. Devotees approach the cave shrine either from the traditional South Kashmir Pahalgam route or the North Kashmir Baltal route.

The Pahalgam-Cave shrine axis is 48 Km long and takes Yatris 4-5 days to reach the shrine. The Baltal-Cave shrine axis is 14 Km long and takes one day for the pilgrims to have ‘darshan’ and return to the base camp.

Helicopter services are also available for the pilgrims both at Baltal on the North Kashmir route and at Chandanwari on the South Kashmir route.

This year’s Yatra will conclude after 52 days on August 19 coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals.
