SS Rajamouli is a ‘fabulous actor’, reveals NTR Jr; Prabhas calls him a 'mad person'

Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) The Telugu superstar NTR Jr has said that his ‘RRR’ director S. S. Rajamouli is a “fabulous” actor, and would often enact scenes to his actors while briefing them about the sequences.

NTR Jr made the revelation in the upcoming documentary, ‘Modern Masters: S. S. Rajamouli’ which is based on the National Award-winning filmmaker.

Talking about the same, NTR Jr. said: “Yep absolutely. And he’s a fabulous actor. He never wants to come in front of the camera but he’s a fabulous actor. He’s one of the few directors we have in India today who can actually make you see what he’s narrating. You know, you’re excited, your concentration levels are like up there. You have these expressions going on your face even without your knowledge.”

NTR Jr’s ‘RRR’ co-star Ram Charan also recollected his experience working with S. S. Rajamouli in ‘Magadheera’, his first movie with Rajamouli.

The actor shared that Rajamouli sat down with him one day in a lawn and asked: “What are you good at? What have you learnt? What Martial Arts have you done? What kind of training have you got? I believe you’ve done horse riding before?”

He was trying to grasp as much as possible, all the abilities that Ram Charan had and what he likes doing as well.

The actor said: “Each and every ability, I spoke about that day in the lawn, was there in Magadheera… (As a director) He will push you beyond your potential, beyond your capacity to achieve that feat. He will introduce you to yourself in a completely brand new way.”

Prabhas recounted Rajamouli’s dedication to his films on the sets of ‘Baahubali’.

He said: “When we were shooting in Mahabaleshwar, he gave this one nice hotel for the actors and for himself, Rajamouli was staying somewhere else. I had asked him, ‘Stay with us, this hotel is nice enough’, he insisted, ‘No-no, I want to save the budget.’ So he stayed in some stupid hotel where there was no clean bathroom and all. I never met someone like that. He’s a mad person, that’s all. Only he could have made ‘Baahubali’.”

Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali Onir and Rima Das’s film "My Melbourne" to open IFFM 2024

Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) Renowned filmmakers Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali Onir and Rima Das’s anthology movie titled “My Melbourne” is all set to open the 15th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM)

Director Imtiaz Ali said he was moved by the story of two very different yet displaced women in “marvellous Melbourne”.

Ali added: “To bring the film to life with the most bright and diverse group of young, local minds, turned out to be a huge learning experience for me. I could share my insights and test my ideas freely with the different creative voices that comprised the team and all of us came out richer from the wonderful My Melbourne experience. Hope you like our piece – Jules in My Melbourne.”

Kabir Khan said that hearing the story of “Setara” for the first time in 2021 immediately drew him in.

“True stories portraying the triumph of the human spirit always have a special appeal for me. Setara’s unique escape from Afghanistan to Melbourne and her finding a sense of belonging through cricket made this a story I had to tell.”

“Working with local emerging creatives and the wonderful girls’ cricket teams of Melbourne made this an even more authentic and wonderful experience,” he added.

“My Melbourne” is a production supported by the Victorian Government’s screen agency Vic Screen and the Federal Government’s Screen Australia.

Director Rima Das said it was a very emotional and uplifting experience, dealing with everything sensitively and trusting the process.

Das shared that the theme of her “film is disability and we wanted to keep it very authentic and real. We worked with a mix of senior actors and relatively new actors, including members of the deaf community.”

Eminem says he created his alter ego Slim Shady as his music was ‘going nowhere’

Los Angeles, July 31 (IANS) Rapper Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, said that he invented his Slim Shady alter ego as his music was “going nowhere.”

The 51-year-old rapper rose to global fame with his 2000 hit ‘The Real Slim Shady’, and in a video titled ‘Slim Shady vs Marshall Mathers: The Face-Off’ for a cover for Complex magazine, the musician reflected how his performing persona came about before saying it pushed him into addiction.

He told a younger AI generated version of himself in the clip: “I invented you because my life was …. My music was going nowhere and I was broke.”

He attacked his alter ego by declaring: “You didn’t fix anything. You actually made that worse. You’re the reason I had to self-medicate. Because of you I almost lost my career, my family, my life.”

“Life’s been great since you’ve been gone,” reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Eminem recently released his latest studio album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’ and hours before it came out the rapper told fans on X, formerly called Twitter: “Public service announcement: the ‘Death of Slim Shady’ is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”
