Imelda Staunton reveals she still wears Queen’s clothes from ‘The Crown’

London, April 12 (IANS) Actress Imelda Staunton, who played the monarch in the series ‘The Crown’ for the final two seasons of the royal drama, shared that she still wears Queen Elizabeth’s clothes from the show in her everyday life.

Talking about how she keeps wearing Elizabeth’s clothes from the show, she was quoted by The Sun as saying,: “It was quite a serious job and quite a serious responsibility carrying all that stuff.

“I finished doing that last May and June and shaking that off — so now I can be up and funny — it’s just taken me that time. I was doing it day in, day out. I knew in 2019 I was doing it, and I started in 2021, so it was a long time. Four years of her in my head.

“The work that went in, you can see it on the screen, every detail from the set to the costumes. I’m wearing one of her shirts now,” she added.

Kusha Kapila reveals what she really likes about her 'Life Hill Gayi' character

Kusha Kapila reveals what she really likes about her 'Life Hill Gayi' character

Mumbai, July 30 (IANS) Content creator, and actress Kusha Kapila shared that what she really likes about ‘Life Hill Gayi’ is how her character Kalki was ‘humanised’.

Kusha said: “I have been making content since 2017, and it was in 2019 when I went solo as a content creator. I have portrayed this character of a South Delhi girl who is blinded by privilege and luxury, so somewhere I get why I was chosen for the role.”

The actress continued: “What I really like about the show is how the character was humanised.”

The social media sensation explained that the character couldn’t be as “caricature-ish” as one can make on reels.

“I don’t think we were able to humanise them in the short sketches, but when you portray someone on-screen, you cannot be as caricature-ish as you can be in reels,” Kusha added.

“While the initial thought could be inspired from what I have done, the emotional and comedy depth came from the directors and the writers also wanting to humanise these characters while having a legitimate redemption arc,” she said.

Directed by Prem Mistry and written by Jasmeet Singh Bhatia, the series also stars Divyenndu, Vinay Pathak, Mukti Mohan, Kabir Bedi, Bhagyashree, and Aditi Govitrikar.

‘Life Hill Gayi’ will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from August 9.

Kusha, who stepped into the world of television in 2014, got her big break in 2020 when she featured in the anthology ‘Ghost Stories’.

The actress has also appeared in films such as ‘Plan A Plan B’, ‘Sukhee’, and ‘Thank You For Coming’.

Jackie Shroff wore only 4 shirts during making of ‘Parinda’, reveals Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Mumbai, July 30 (IANS) Filmmaker and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is known for his recent film ’12th Fail’, has shared an intriguing anecdote about his cult-classic film ‘Parinda’.

On the Instagram account of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s production company, an archival video was re-shared showing Vidhu in conversation with director Sudhir Mishra.

In the video, Vidhu reveals that ‘Parinda’ was made on a shoestring budget and relied heavily on the collective effort of everyone involved.

He recounts that the film’s concept began with a scene depicting two brothers in their childhood. When the younger brother complains of hunger, the elder reassures him with the line, “Rota kyun karta hai? Main hoon na” (Why do you cry? I’m here for you).

Vidhu then shared that throughout the film, Jackie Shroff wore only four shirts — blue, black, brown, and dark green.

He also shared that Anil Kapoor, who played Jackie’s brother, also used these four shirts for his character and wore his own jeans during the shoot.

The filmmaker also notes that the black Fiat 123 featured in the film belonged to Jackie and was used due to budget constraints rather than any specific charm intended for the character.

Vidhu reminisces that before ‘Parinda’, he had made ‘Khamosh’, which “nobody bought” (referring to distributors). This experience motivated him to create a more commercial film with ‘Parinda.’

The filmmaker also recalls telling Jackie and Anil at the premiere of ‘Parinda’, “My God, you guys look like stars!” when he saw them wearing suits.

To which Jackie, who is a close friend of Vidhu, responded, “What do you mean? Hum stars hain” (We are the stars).

Vidhu admits he didn’t fully grasp the star power of Jackie and Anil at that time, especially given the film’s tight budget.

Sangita Ghosh: Real challenge as an actor is taking on roles different from who I am

Mumbai, July 30 (IANS) Actress Sangita Ghosh, who is best known for her role as Pammi in the show ‘Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand’, has shared her thoughts on the real challenge she faces as an actor.

“I’ve loved playing every character I’ve been given. My latest role was in a fantasy drama where I played a negative character who could fly — something that isn’t possible in real life,” Sangita said.

The actress is currently seen portraying Saroj, the stepmother of the lead character Gagan, played by Sahil Uppal, in ‘Saajha Sindoor’, which she described as “exciting.”

Sangita added: “In ‘Saajha Sindoor’, I play a stepmother with grey shades, which is quite different from the roles I’ve done before. It was a lot of fun and exciting. For me, the real challenge as an actor is taking on roles that are very different from who I am.”

“Imagining and bringing these unique characters to life is what makes acting special for me,” she noted.
